Laura Branigan, "Gloria"
Several things about this song made it a hit: great singing, killer bass groove, and it tells a weird story about someone who might be a little nuts involving telephones in a mysterious way.

King of the Road is 10
Fu Manchu released King of the Road ten years ago (ten and half years ago acc to wikipedia). I remember when it came out, I'd never heard of Fu Manchu, but Matt Ryan and Frank ate it up. For some reason, I didn't like the vocals - they were kind of flat I thought. I like it now, though. I don't know what I was thinking. I was little bitch. This is a good album and it still sounds fresh.

Friday Van Halen
Here's a little something to kick off this Memorial Day weekend in style; classic Van Halen. This is from the 1981 Fair Warning tour. This video has it all; Dave's classic split from the drum riser, Eddie's scissor kick, Alex looking...sweaty, and lots of poofy-haired 80's chicks. Oh..if only I had been older than 4 at the time.
