Rock Report Calendar Updated; Fall Is Impressive

While it may still be 1000 degrees outside, you know that in the back of your mind you have thoughts of football, cooler weather and fall tours by many artist. This fall has some great things happening around the area, among those the first Hopscotch Festival in Raleigh, King's re-opening, and the usual hot spots loading up the schedules with quality music.

Probably the most anticipated event for the area is the first of what I hope to be many Hopscotch Festivals.  The line-up has something for everyone, and over three days in the capital city on September 9-11, you can catch the likes of rap legends Public Enemy, local favs The Rosebuds, Birds of Avalon, and The Love Language mix it up with Akron/Family, Kylesa and many more. Head over to the HQ and see all the bands and get more info. This is a big event for the area so come out and support!

Coming up over the next couple months, you'll see the likes of Fu Manchu, Holy Fuck, Surfer Blood, The Black Crowes, Charlatans UK, Rogue Wave, Guided By Voices, Blitzen Trapper, Deerhunter, Stars, High on Fire, Overkill, Caribou, Starfucker and much more come through the area. Go ahead and break out the wallet.

The Sword, The Hold Steady, The Black Keys, The Dandy Warhols and others are also hitting the state. Asheville is turning into quite the normal stop along the way for many bands and if you are willing to make the trip, you can see plenty of good shows at The Orange Peel. Plus, the town is pretty awesome, so why not make a road trip?

Charlotte is also getting some love with Black Label Society, Clutch, Tears For Fears, Deftones, Greg Ginn, Wavves, Misfits and Helmet passing through.

So in between football tailgating, football games and Sunday morning Premier League, I bet you can fit in a show or two, either in the Triangle or across the state.

Please check back often and take a look at the Calendar on the Rock Report and hope to see you out at the shows!

***please let me know if I missed something of note! I'd hate for everyone to be in the dark because I'm lame***
